The Athenas trained hard on defense mid week and were eager to put into practice everything they have worked on and make Grimsbury road a fortress with their first home game of the season.

The Athenas started strong with some great forwards play and strong running from Jasmin, Amelia, Jamie, Nyla , Summer leading the charge to be quickly supported by Shannon Seren, Millie who effectively secured the ball at the breakdown dominating and allowing Sasha to feed clean and swift ball to the backs. phase after phase of ball was used by Eadie who called Roms and Lilly D to lead yet more hard lines into the Walcat defense. it wasn't long before the space was made and ball moved out wide for Lilly W , Isobelle and Macie to turn on their rapid pace.
Lilly W capitalized several times turning the Athenas possession into points, try's were then converted by Romily and Lilly W who took turns in slotting the ball between the posts.

Second half Nyla picked up the ball from the ruck at the 22 and smashed though the Walcat defense again with a strong run.
Walcats a team that wasn't giving up tested the Athenas defense, and scrummaged hard throughout. managed to ship the ball out wide twice scoring two trys and two successful conversions making the Final score 49-14 to the Home Side.

Special Mention to Macie for tackler of the match with some great cover tackles and The Back Row Seren,Nyla and Summer for a joint Player of the match a great show of back row dominating.
